RIP Maurice Sendak – Where The Wild Things Are

Growing up as a Child we all have read ” Where The Wild Things Are ” and today, we lost the person who helped build a vision he had and turned it into something so memorable.

From writing the book in 1963, to winning the Caldecott Medal for it in 1964.

President Bill Clinton also awarded Sendak a National Medal of the Arts in 1996 and in 2009 President Obama read “Where the Wild Things Are” for the Easter Egg Roll.

This book was definitely something that eased me as a child, the writing, the illustrations, oh man the illustrations are what really won me over, monsters sleeping to running around with Max. But what intrigued me was that the book also helps you relate, my friend AR just told me that it helped him see that we all have problems that we deal with in our own ways.

To a true pioneer and fellow artist RIP.
